CanadaDrugs.com Achieves Re-Accreditation CanadaDrugs.com is the first mailorder pharmacy to earn re-accreditation by IMPAC through June, 2007. Accreditation means that CanadaDrugs is in full compliance with IMPAC's 89 quality and safety standards. Compliance has been verified by an on-site survey. (PRWEB) August 15, 2005 -- CanadaDrugs.com in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada was the first mailorder pharmacy to be re-accredited by IMPAC (Internet and Mailorder Pharmacy Accreditation Commission). CanadaDrugs.com and www.canadadrugs.com were found to be in full compliance with the 89 international quality and safety standards for the second time. Their accreditation is now continued through June, 2007.
CanadaDrugs.com was the first mailorder pharmacy to be accredited by IMPAC in June, 2003. This accreditation period was for two years. When asked why CanadaDrugs wanted to be re-accredited, Brock Gunter-Smith, Director of e-Business for CanadaDrugs.com noted IMPAC re-accreditation confirms once again that CanadaDrugs.com continues strict adherence to a very detailed, recognized quality assurance program throughout all of its operations. CanadaDrugs is very proud to once again be the first pharmacy to be re-accredited and maintain its quality leadership position in the mailorder pharmacy industry."
The process for re-accreditation is the same as accreditation, including a two day, on-site survey by a pharmacist surveyor and an administrative surveyor. While the standards remain consistent, we do expect to see an increasing sophistication in the quality assurance and performance improvement practices," states Jennifer Fels, Executive Officer for Standards and Surveys at IMPAC. The accreditation process does not get easier the second time around. Brock-Smith notes IMPAC re-accreditation for CanadaDrugs.com was as comprehensive and rigorous an evaluation as the initial process."
IMPAC accreditation provides all CanadaDrugs.com patients increased consumer confidence regarding the quality of pharmacy services provided. It recognizes that CanadaDrugs.com has policies and practices in place for the provision of high quality and safe drugs," notes Brock-Smith. The IMPAC seal and accreditation helps the decision-making of consumers and other purchasers, such as state and city governments. It lets a consumer or purchaser know that the mailorder pharmacy has met a full set of quality and safety standards.
IMPAC is an independent, U.S based commission that accredits domestic and international mailorder pharmacies. Its mission is dedicated to the promotion of consumer safety and quality improvement in the pharmaceutical industry. The focus of the standards is pharmaceutical management, consumer safety, and quality assurance. Jennifer Fels, the Executive Officer for Standards and Surveys for IMPAC, notes that A uniform application of a set of objective quality standards is the only way to assure that the current mailorder pharmacy industry is safe." Many states in the United States are using the IMPAC accreditation as the criteria for determining their relationships with mailorder pharmacies.
CanadaDrugs.com, 24 Terracon Place, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada accreditation will be for two years. They have earned the privilege of displaying the IMPAC seal on their website and marketing materials. CanadaDrugs.com is also listed as an accredited pharmacy on IMPACs website, www.impacsurvey.org.
