(PRWEB) August 20, 2005 -- Colorado Springs, CO --- The 2006 Paul Gillette Writing Contest, sponsored by Pikes Peak Writers (PPW), will feature VIP judging for the first year in the contests 14-year history.

The VIP judges, agents and editors who are acquiring book-length manuscripts in their selected categories, will rank the top three scoring entries for each category, awarding the first, second and third place entries. Categories include several types of genre fiction, book-length creative non-fiction, and short stories.

Also, PPW will make the score sheets available for download on the organizations website, www.ppwc.net/contest.html, so that entrants can see the judging criteria. This as well as other contest hints and a full list of categories will be available online in September, 2005.

Deadline for the Paul Gillette Writing Contest remains November 1 and entry fees remain $25. One page critiques may be requested from up to two first-round judges, at a cost of $15 each.

The Paul Gillette Writing Contest began as a way to help propel writers forward by giving them valuable feedback concerning their manuscripts and put them in a position to pitch to the editors and agents who attend the Pikes Peak Writers Conference each year. Previous winners of the Contest, who have gone on to publication, include Carol Berg (Science Fiction), Margaret Coel (Mystery/Intrigue), and Colleen Collins (Contemporary Romance). For a list of previous winners who have gone on to publish, visit www.ppwc.net/contest.html.
