Doctor to Take House Calls" on 9/11 As Baby Boomers turn to holistic healthcare in record numbers, a Scottsdale Chiropractor helps guide their way. (PRWEB) August 24, 2005 -- House calls may be a practice of the past, but taking house calls is the new wave -- air wave -- that is. Dr. Daniel Secrest, D.C., owner and operator of Secrest Family Chiropractic, PC, will take to the Arizona air waves on KFNX, 1100 AM, starting Sunday, September 11, from 8:00-9:00 a.m.
"Listeners will be able to call with their health questions and learn the latest technical advances in holistic medicine," said Dr. Secrest. "If someone has an ache or pain from head to toe - and anywhere in between - I will provide answers from my personal experience and knowledge database, and hopefully direct them to their nearest practitioner."
Dr. Dan will interview weekly guests from various holistic healthcare fields to help answer callers questions and inform the public of advancing techniques and practices in their respective fields. Respected local providers will also address nutrition, diet and exercise in a new light.
70% of Baby Boomers go Holistic
While holistic healthcare may seem to be for the younger generation, Dr. Dan quotes statistics that more than 70% of the baby boomer generation seek such alternatives as they approach retirement.
"This explosive new interest is for very good reasons. Baby boomers have watched their parents suffer financially under current medical programs, even traveling to Mexico for their prescriptions, and have seen them struggle as the medical community constantly shifts its thinking on how to treat chronic conditions and diseases. They vow it will not happen to them."
"Conventional medicine has stumbled badly in recent years," Dr. Dan continued, "Frequently, worse conditions and illnesses have resulted in reaction to several powerful new drugs. Much of the double-blind testing put forth to prove the worthiness of new prescriptions seems to either ignore, lack sufficient study of longer term use, or overlook effects of combined multiple drug use on the vital organs of our body."
Combining Modalities for Effectiveness
It is not Dr. Secrests intent to focus on the negatives of any particular segment of the healthcare community. Rather, his show will emphasize progress that is being made across the healthcare spectrum.
"Everyone can make better decisions when they know what their choices are. Some listeners may not know 'what to ask or 'where to go to get answers. I hope to help them make informed decisions by opening up other avenues of thought."
Chiropractic has Changed"
Dr. Secrests mission is to inform the public of the many new innovations recently made in holistic healthcare. "There have been many chiropractic advances in both effective application and comfort level. These new developments are as huge as those achieved in dentistry today."
According to Dr. Secrest, no longer are treatments restricted to a basic 7-point body, physically uncomfortable manipulation. New equipment, procedures and technological advances have expanded beyond immediate spinal care and made posture correction and total wellness care a reality.
"Today, extremity ailments such as tennis elbow, carpel tunnel, shoulder, knee and foot problems are addressed individually. We even have a new procedure to address snoring and permit patients--and their spouses--to get a proper nights sleep," said Dr. Secrest.
Mind Over Body
"Stress is now recognized as one of the highest causes of illness and chronic conditions," says Dr. Secrest. "Addressing the physical aspects of the body is not sufficient to heal it, and frequently time has to be spent calming a patient and addressing the causes of stress and trauma prior to treating the ailment."
More doctors, nurses and EMT specialists are learning techniques for calming patients as a prerequisite to treatment, and praise the effectiveness of these procedures. "We are not talking about psychiatry here, but rather emotional freedom on a first-aide basis that permits patients to accept physical treatment more readily."
Dr. Dans show topics will include several such energy providers, including acupuncture, reiki, polar therapy, vogal crystal, pranic, hypnotic and emotional freedom techniques. Chariese Pike, a clairvoyant energy healer, will appear on his first show.
Choosing 9/11 Start Date
Dr. Secrest admitted that he had reservations about starting his show on 9/11. "It is such a solemn date in our countrys current history and should remind us all how fortunate we are to be alive and free. However, to properly enjoy our freedom and blessings, we need to avoid making ourselves prisoners in our own bodies. Good health is the obvious answer. God gave us life, but we must earn our health."
Dr. Secrest, whose clinic is located in the Old Town Scottsdale area, can be reached at 480-994-4411. He is a graduate of Long Island University and Life University, and is also proficient in several energy techniques. He is member of the Better Business Bureau and International Chiropractic Association, and was recently accepted for membership in the Internets most exclusive chiropractic directory, www.therightchiropractor.com.
