Athena Feminine Technologies selects Interpret-Her to Develop Consumer Brand Strategy and Grow U.S. and International Sales

Women suffering from incontinence are having great success with a medical device available by prescription in the US and over-the-counter in Europe. Interpret-Her was selected By Athena to educate the medical and consumer community in this billion dollar market.

Orinda, CA (PRWEB) August 26, 2005

Interpret-Her, LLC was named today to develop and implement strategies for the Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer™ (PMT), an FDA approved medical device. The PMT serves one of the last taboos in women’s health - incontinence - a market representing billions of dollars in treatment services. Interpret-Her, headquartered in Minneapolis, MN will develop the consumer brand position and physician market strategies to drive word-of-mouth patient endorsements and grow product sales.

“This is a serious and embarrassing issue that has received very little attention,” states Terri Whitesel, President of Interpret-Her, “In the US alone, one in three women will suffer from incontinence in their lifetime - new moms, athletes, pre-menopausal women, as well as seniors. Because it’s embarrassing to admit, women are reluctant to bring it to their physician’s attention and physicians don’t push the subject. Our goal is to establish a higher comfort level for both groups and make it part of mainstream conversation without the stigmas attached.”

“We’re very happy that the Interpret-Her team is working with us,” remarks Ms. Sarkis, “they instantly understood the issues we faced going from the over-the-counter market in Europe to the US where it’s available only by prescription. We have FDA and physician approval, what we need now is the same “acceptance” here that we have overseas. Interpret-Her brings focus to our organization and fresh ideas to maximize are current marketing programs as well as develop new concepts, such as word-of-mouth campaigns, to grow and nurture our community of users.”

The Athena Pelvic Muscle Trainer (PMT) strengthens and tones the pelvic floor muscles that, when weak, can cause or contribute to female urinary incontinence. Those who support its use as an option to drugs or surgery include the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS).

It works by automatically performing perfect “kegels,” the exercise technique necessary to tighten the pelvic floor muscle. “Doing kegels isn’t like doing sit ups,” explains Ms. Sarkis, “You can’t see if you’re doing them right and that is critical to their effectiveness.”

Unlike other incontinence medical devices, the Athena FT trainer is wireless. Women can use it and no one would know that they are “in training”. It is designed to be used while reading a book or watching TV and once results are achieved, the user can go on a maintenance program to keep “in shape.”
