West Seneca hosts 2005 Autism Walk

The 2005 Buffalo Walk F.A.R. for NAAR Autism walk to raise money for autism research to be held at West Seneca Soccer Complex - September 24, 2005

West Seneca, NY (PRWEB) August 26, 2005 -- Thousands of people touched by autism, including the families and friends of people with autism and other concerned local citizens, will join together to take part in this year's BUFFALO WALK F.A.R for NAAR event, raising funds for autism research on SEPTEMBER 24, 2005 at the WEST SENECA SOCCER COMPLEX.

All proceeds from the event benefit the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR), whose primary mission is to fund and accelerate biomedical research that seeks to find the causes, prevention, treatment and, ultimately, a cure for all autism spectrum disorders.

"The committee and I are thrilled about this year's walk," said Tracy Paradowski chairperson of the Buffalo Walk F.A.R. For NAAR. "We encourage as many people as possible to support the walk and join us for a day celebrating those with autism and their families and sharing the spirit and hope to find a cure."

Autism is a brain disorder that often inhibits a person's ability to communicate,respond to surroundings or form relationships with others. Autism is estimated to affect approximately 1,000,000 people in the United States alone and occurs in as many as 1 out of every 166 children, making it the second most common developmental disability. To date there is no treatment or cure for autism and little difinitive research about the disorder, which underscores the importance of collaborative efforts to understand autism.

Registration for the BUFFALO WALKF.A.R. FOR NAAR is at 11am at the West Seneca Soccer Complex located at 3747 seneca Street in the Town of West Seneca, the actual walk will begin at 12 (noon).
