2005 Voting Panel Announced For CollegeInsider.com's Mid-Major Top 25 College Basketball Poll. Oral Roberts head basketball coach Scott Sutton has been named the chairman of the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 voting panel for the 2005-06 season. Every mid-major conference will be represented by at least one voter, with Mid-American, Missouri Valley and West Coast Conferences each having three voters. (PRWEB) Sept. 1, 2005 -- Oral Roberts head coach and chairman of the Mid-Major Top 25; Scott Sutton announced the voting panel for the 2005-06 season on Monday, Aug 29. As has been the case in previous years, every mid-major conference will be represented by at least one voter, with Mid-American, Missouri Valley and West Coast Conferences each having three voters.
The MAC, the Valley and the WCC have proven to be the premier mid-major conferences," says Sutton. Over the past few years each league has had multiple teams ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 and multiple teams participating in postseason. Having three voters from each league is good for the voting process."
Tim Buckley (Ball State), Rob Judson (Northern Illinois) and Steve Hawkins (Western Michigan) will represent the MAC. Greg McDermott (Northern Iowa), Steve Merfeld (Evansville) and Porter Moser (Illinois State) will vote from the Missouri Valley and Randy Bennett (St. Marys), Brad Holland (San Diego) and Sam Scuilli (Santa Clara) will be representing the WCC.
Last season each of the three leagues had two voting representatives. Rob Judson, Porter Moser and Sam Scuilli joined the voting panel this season to give their respective conferences a third vote.
In all there are eight first-time voters with, Will Brown (Albany), Kermit Davis (Middle Tennessee), Joe Jones (Columbia), Tod Kowalczyk (UW-Green Bay) and Vann Pettaway (Alabama A&M) joining the panel 2005-06 season.
Its great that so many coaches want to be on the panel," says Sutton. Every year there are changes made. Not because coaches arent doing a good job, but because there are so many coaches that want to be involved. Its great to see the interest in the Mid-Major Top 25."
The preseason Mid-Major Top 25 will be announced in October.
