September is National Head Lice Prevention Month The National Pediculosis Association sponsors National Head Lice Prevention each September to raise the awareness and decrease the stress of head lice as children return back to school. Newton, Massachusetts (PRWEB) September 2, 2009 Each September marks the start of the academic school year for children. Since 1985, September has also served as National Head Lice Prevention month to heighten the awareness of parents, teachers, and children of head lice prevention and safe treatment. The National Pediculosis Association (NPA), who just announced its 2009 back to school campaign "Precaution, Preparedness & Peace of Mind", serves as an independent advocate for healthy, safe, and ecologically sound practices through their Web site, http://www.headlice.org. "The NPA's primary goals are to educate and remind people to be proactive rather than reactive - that prevention and precaution are the safest and healthiest measures as children return to school," says Deborah Altschuler, president and co-founder of the NPA. "There is neither a need to panic nor a need to react with dangerous chemicals that do not end infestations and put our children and our environment at risk." The NPA continues to provide clear and safe information to protect against the misinformation that is proliferated online and respond to the tragic reality that our children's health and safety is being put at risk by unnecessary exposures to pesticides. The NPA continues to promote the following measures to help maintain the well being of children:
"Head lice prevention should be part of every child's normal routine throughout the year," adds Altschuler. "Head lice is not a September crisis. Regular screening takes only minutes and can mitigate a host of unnecessary, uncomfortable, and unsafe problems down the road." As parents and children enter into the 2009-2010 academic school year, the NPA strongly recommends the early screening for head lice and nits with safe and healthy tools to keep children nit and anxiety free. Through their Web site, http://www.headlice.org, parents, teachers, children, and other concerned adults have access to the news, science, tools, and downloads designed to embody and support the message for Precaution, Preparedness & Peace of Mind.
