Innova Recordings Releases Barry Schraders Beyond" CD

Innova Recordings has just released Beyond", a new CD of electro-acoustic music by Barry Schrader. Beyond" contains some of the most recent works by Schrader, whom the Los Angeles Times has called a composer born to the electronic medium."

(PRWEB) September 27, 2005 -- Innova Recordings has just released Beyond", an album of new electro-acoustic music by composer Barry Schrader. The CD contains First Spring", Beyond", Dukes Tune", and all three movements of Death": Before Death", Into Death", and After Death."

Regarding the music on this CD, pioneering electro-acoustic music composer Bebe Barron, creator of the music for the sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet", proclaims "This music conjures up a whirlwind of emotion from some primeval source that permeates the listener with awe."

Concerning Schraders groundbreaking work Death, composer Judy Klein writes "I am captured in the very first moment. And then, what subtle enhancement in the second section, and what a journey in the third! I hear the release of the spirit, its energy, its guides; darkness, hugeness, powerful monsters. Images foreign but not unfamiliar come to mind. There is such musical drive and such unity throughout the piece. I feel I've heard transformations of an element through gaseous and solid states, and that in the end, a spirit has become one with the voices which called to it in the beginning."

Duke"s Tune" is the first (and only) musical work based on a tune composed by a pig. Duke the potbellied pig, who resides at Lil Orphan Hammies http://www.lilorphanhammies.com/, a shelter for potbellied pigs in Solvang, California, played the original melody of Dukes Tune" on his xylophone. Schrader transcribed the tune (with Dukes permission, of course) and used it as the sole basis for pitch material in Dukes Tune".

The work Beyond" uses the sounds of waterphones and harpsichords, transforming them into new aural worlds.

First Spring" is based on the electro-acoustic music accompaniment for the first large section of Fallen Sparrow, a new work for violin and electronics which will be premiered this coming March at REDCAT in Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. The concept of First Spring" stems from imagining what the dying sparrow of the larger works title might recall in its last moments of life about experiencing its first spring, when life in all of its myriad forms fills the landscape with sights and sounds that are new and wondrous to the young bird.

Barry Schrader has been called a composer of approachable electronic music with a distinctive individual voice to reward the adventurous." by Gramophone. Synthopia http://www.synthtopia.com/interviews/Barry_Schrader_Interview_.html has written that Schrader balances the impulse to be experimental and original with a need to connect with the emotions and instincts of listeners. The result is music with lyricism, passion, rhythm and drive that makes music the master of technology."

Barry Schraders compositions for electronics, dance, film, video, multimedia, live/electro-acoustic combinations, and real-time computer performance have been presented throughout the world. Schrader is the founder and the first president of SEAMUS (Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States), and has been responsible for the initiation and operation of SCREAM (Southern California Resource for Electro-Acoustic Music), the Currents concert series, and the CalArts Electro-Acoustic Marathon.
