This brand new series is not afraid to tackle even the most serious issues facing young adults today, including alcoholism, child abuse, and date rape.
The new hour-long drama has its series airs on i" Independent Television (formerly PAX-TV), Sunday nights at 8:00.
This Sunday's episode tackles the issue of child abuse and the drama has already received praise from a New York City nonprofit for kids.
It is time for the public to pay attention to these serious yet very preventable issues that plague our young adults today," said Ross Ellis, founder and chief executive officer of Love Our Children USA, a national nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence against children through education and awareness.
'Palmetto Pointe' is all about being real -- real about both the good and the bad in life today," said show lead Actor Tim Woodward, Jr. We won't shy away from bringing these issues to the forefront and educating young adults."
Ellis said, By bringing the issue to the forefront through entertainment and media, we can educate the public and stop violence against children before it starts. Not only can we stop the violence before it starts, but we can create better parents for the future. Offering a choice to continue or not continue the cycle as their parents have done is critical, as is choosing to treat dates with respect rather than violence. Breaking the cycle of violence is usually learned at home. The good news is -- violence and abuse can be unlearned."
It is the end of everything right and the beginning of everything real. That's what 'Palmetto Pointe' is all about," said lead actor and show's producers Tim Woodward, Jr. No subject is too taboo for us to take on in what we hard hitting, realistic view of life after high school. But with the show being set in the fictional beach town of Palmetto Pointe, South Carolina, we have plenty of opportunities for beautiful scenery, beach parties, friendship and love."
Last Sunday's pilot episode introduces us to Tristan Sutton (played by Tim Woodward, Jr.), who after the death of his parents leaves his hometown of Palmetto Pointe to play baseball, hoping to fulfill his dream of one day playing in the big leagues. Now, three months later, he has returned with a minor league team, playing in the town he hoped never to return to. On his way to pitching a no-hitter, Tristan is forced to deal with all that he left behind: family, friends, his first love and a mysterious new girl that catches his eye.
For six friends, the journey of life will be long and hard, but these young adults will be shaped by their memories. It is the end of everything right and the beginning of everything real."
