The First Seamless Mobility Server for PacketCable Introduced by Fixed-Mobile Convergence Solution Developer Ventego Networks

Tel Aviv, Israel (PRWEB) September 12, 2005 -- Ventego Networks, a provider of end-to-end solutions converging fixed and mobile services over existing broadband networks, introduces UniCell Server, the industry's first Seamless Mobility server for PacketCable.

The UniCell server provides a Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) solution that not only enables cable operators to offer quadruple play services, but also allows them to significantly extend their reach to serve customers with the best possible service, no matter where they happen to be, using industry-standard dual-mode cellular handsets or "combo" phones.

UniCell is the only Fixed-Mobile Convergence offering that complies with IMS (IP multimedia subsystem)-3GPP R6 (Release 6) specifications, while retaining full backwards compatibility with current fixed and mobile networks.

Fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) revenues will reach $80 billions in 2009, or 6% of total communications spend worldwide, according to a new report from Pyramid Research. Converged service revenue growth will be derived from value-added services and the migration of digital content from broadcasting networks to new converged networks. Pyramid Research expects converged services adoption to accelerate after 2007 as more services are provided and consumers migrated to convergent platforms.

Ventego Networks’ UniCell Server was introduced at the CableLabs (Cable Television Laboratories) Summer 2005 Conference, the cable television industry's research and development consortium.
