Chicago, IL (PRWEB) September 16, 2009 Chicago-based Crank the Earth has just announced the launch of their design contest and bicycling t-shirt and jersey online store cranktheearth.com. Crank the Earth is a community-designed cycling jersey and apparel store. Powered by votes, the community chooses the winning designs that are later sold in the CTE shop. With hundreds of members and growing hourly, CTE soft-launched their beta Web site at Chicago's Bike the Drive ride sponsored by Chicago's Active Transportation Alliance on May 24, 2009. "Within two months of soft-launching our beta site, testride.cranktheearth.com this summer, word spread quickly with web hits from all over Europe, Asia, North and South America," said Michelle Hierzer, one of Crank the Earth's founders. "We are thrilled with the official launch, and would like to thank all of our test ride beta customers for their feedback and support." In preparation for the launch, Crank the Earth also beefed up their offerings to both their designer community and consumer. They increased the design award from $250 to $1000 plus $100 CTE dollars to be used in the store. In addition, they partnered with a few of the best apparel manufacturers including American Apparel for t-shirts and Primal Wear for jerseys.
