Colombian effort one of many transnational market development opportunities currently being cultivated in Central and South American countries by USMDG.

AUSTIN, TEXAS (PRWEB) September 28, 2005 -- US Market Development Group (USMDG) recently completed a series of meetings with Colombian government and business leaders to discuss trade and investment initiatives in various US market segments.

USMDG President Joe Garvey and VP Seth Koppel traveled to Bogotá and Medellín to meet with officials of the Inter American Development Bank, the Secretary of Competition and Productivity of the Colombian State of Antioquia, the mayor and representatives of the industrial city of Envigado and various other clients, including commercial printer and supplier of religious artifacts ServiGraficas and contract textile manufacturer Bibeza to explore transnational trade between the US and Colombia.

We work closely with our in-country partner ACOPI Antioquia" says Garvey. ACOPI Executive Director Miguel Echeverri and Jairo Ufre have been instrumental in uncovering investment and market opportunities for our US clients, and they will play a key role in furthering our discussions with the principals."

USMDG works closely with the US Agency for International Developments executing agent CARANA group. CARANA Colombias Chief of Party Mary Ann Murphy is in charge of managing the Colombia Enterprise Development (CED) Program. This program pursues the USAID strategic objectives to promote economic and social alternatives to illicit crop production, improve municipal governance through strengthening urban economies, and to assist displaced populations through increased employment in outlying departments."

One such CED project that USMDG is implementing involves a consortium of 13 shoe and leather good manufacturing companies. Under the first phase, USMDG has installed an industry expert to create a production and quality assessment to ensure top international standards are met. In the second phase of the consulting project, a strategic and execution oriented business plan will be developed to guide the consortiums entry into the US market.

US Market Development Group develops business expansion opportunities for US companies in emerging markets around the world. In addition, USMDG helps foreign governments and companies interested in investing in US market opportunities.
