Mobile Trends Enters Russia -- Human Mobility in Russian

The Swedish company Mobile Trends is now entering the Russian market for distribution of mobile IP-based services. The mobile content product mobispine (www.mobispine.com) from Mobile Trends Europe AB will shortly be launched in Russian.

This is a step in the company strategy to enter emerging mobile markets around the world. "We view the Russian market as very interesting, Russia today has more than 86 million mobile subscribers and is expanding very rapidly," says Joakim Hilj, VP of Global Sales, The Mobile Trends Group. Mobispine already has a large number of Russian subscribers and expect the new Russian version to increase the interest manifold.

"We are currently evaluating a number of potential co-operations with mobile operators and content providers in Russia in order to further strengthen our position there," Hilj continues. The strategy of Mobile Trends is to make concentrated precision efforts in markets with high mobile usage or expected growth in this segment. "We are evaluating several other locations, but chose Russia as our first target," says Hilj.

According to several market analysis companies, Russia is now in the unique situation where interactive SMS services may "overtake" the Internet in terms of numbers of users and popularity. "We can already see a big demand for our mobispine.com product in the Russian market, given our superior quality and significant cost-saving compared to the ageing SMS technology," Hilj concludes. Mobispine in Russian will be launched on October 10th.
