Picking the Best Movies to Watch in the Wake of the Terror Attacks

The recent terror attacks have changed our view of the world, and has altered our tastes in movies. While the movie studios are making adjustments in future movie releases, but people want movies to watch now.

Movie rentals are up in the days since the terrorist attacks," says Kevin Eikenberry, author of the forthcoming Magical Movies: Enriching Your Life Through the Most Inspiring Movies of All Time. One reason for the increase is that people got tired of watching the news. That was a short term phenomenon, but more importantly, now they are looking for ways to be more connected with the people in their life. Movies can help us find or build that connection, especially if we select our movies wisely," says Eikenberry. He goes on to say that the process of watching a movie can help build connections and provide group comfort, but the discussion of the movie, its themes and story lines can make movies even more powerful.

To help people make wise movie choices in the coming weeks, Eikenberry has assembled several Top Five" lists of movies to consider based on genre and interests, given the current situation. The lists include Five Patriotic Movies, Five Family Movies, Five Movies for Historical Context, Five Thought Provoking Movies, Five Sports Movies, Five Movies with a Lighter Touch, and Five Fantasies.
