Grande Dunes, Pine Lakes And Tidewater Are Among The State's Best Public-Access Courses, Says S.C. Ratings Panel

Three Of South Carolina's Top 30 Courses Are Owned And/Or Managed By Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management

(PRWEB) October 1, 2005 -- Three of the golf courses owned and/or managed by Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management have been ranked among the state's best public-access courses by the South Carolina Ratings Panel, a collaborative effort sanctioned by South Carolina Magazine and South Carolina Golf Today.

Tidewater Golf Club was ranked number seven in the state, while Grande Dunes - Resort Course came in at number eight and Pine Lakes International Country Club was number twenty-two. Tidewater is managed by Burroughs & Chapin Golf Management which both owns and manages Pine Lakes and Grande Dunes.

We are extremely pleased to have three of our courses recognized for their excellence in design, maintenance and service," said Burroughs & Chapin's director of golf operations, Archie Lemon. It's an honor to have our managed courses on the same list with great facilities like the Ocean Course and Harbour Town. Since we launched our golf management division in 2001, we've built a team with the expertise to develop great customer service and strong bottom lines. The Ratings Panel recognized what we have accomplished and we are honored."

The rankings by the South Carolina Ratings Panel were published in the September/October edition of South Carolina Magazine and the September issue of South Carolina Golf Today. The Top 30 courses were extracted from a list of the state's Top 50 public and private courses. Those Top 50 were selected by the 100-member ratings panel of which approximately 25 panelists are from each of the state's geographical regions: The Upstate, The Midlands, The Lowcountry, and The Grand Strand.

The South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel was formed in 2004 to promote excellence in South Carolina golf course design and operations through competitive rankings, education and public advocacy. The Panel was designed to serve as an ambassador for golf in South Carolina by striving to stimulate and facilitate the promotion and marketing of outstanding golf courses, resorts, and real estate developments.
