New York, NY (PRWEB) September 29, 2009 The Investigator, the first game-based training program on how to conduct workplace investigations, received the Top Training Product of the Year award from Human Resource Executive Magazine. The training program was developed by Kognito Interactive, a developer of training simulations and educational games, and Curiale Hirschfeld Kraemer LLP, a leading labor and employment law firm. A demo of the program can be viewed at http://www.kognito.com/investigator. In the simulation, learners assume the role of a director of human resources at a large organization, who must conduct a challenging sexual harassment investigation from start to finish. Learners interview relevant parties, select witnesses, evaluate evidence, determine which policies have been violated, create case documentation, and bring the case to a conclusion, while receiving expert feedback along the way. The simulation contains seven interactive interviews that learners must conduct with virtual characters, each of whom has his or her own unique personality, motivations, body language, and emotional state. These interviews were created using Kognito's proprietary simulation platform, which enables learners to practice having conversations with virtual, fully animated characters who possess their own memory and emotions. This highly effective learning approach results in learners becoming better equipped and more confident to handle similar investigation interviews in real life. "Conducting an investigation requires not just knowledge of the process but also the interpersonal skills to effectively conduct the interviews with the accuser, accused, and witnesses, " said CHK Partner Glen Kraemer, who acted as the primary subject-matter expert for the simulation. "Using Kognito's simulation technology, we are now able to provide realistic practice opportunities in engaging in these challenging conversations, which will improve the learner's ability to conduct an effective investigation in real life." "This award is another indication of the value of using simulation technology to improve complex skills, such as conducting investigations, managing people, and leading a team," said Kognito CEO Ron Goldman. "The Investigator is the only training product out there that allows users to learn through practice and feedback, versus the prevalent information-dissemination approaches." CHK LLP and Kognito will conduct free one-hour information webinars about The Investigator on October 8 at 1:30 pm EST (10:30am Pacific) and October 22 and 1:30 EST (10:30am Pacific). ABOUT KOGNITO
