O'Reilly Factor Guest Exposes Sneak Attack on Bloggers

Veteran journalist and new blogger David Kline learns the bitter truth on O'Reilly's conservative talk show and speaks out in his own blog

(PRWEB) October 8, 2005 -- When David Kline, co-author of "Blog! How the Newest Media Revolution is Changing Politics, Business and Culture," received a call Tuesday morning from Rob Manaco, a producer with the "O'Reilly Factor" he didn't know he was going to be embroiled in a smear campaign against political bloggers.

"They said they were interested in having me appear on a segment they were preparing on political blogs -- what makes some of them credible and influential and others not," said Kline, "and how they were changing the political process."

Then, recounts Kline, "They pulled the old bait-and-switch. There I was, sitting in the remote studio location, and as our segment went on air, I heard the following over my earpiece:

O'Reilly: 'Tonight: political smear sites! They operate on both sides of the political spectrum. There are no rules. These people will do and say pretty much anything to harm people with whom they disagree politically.'

Whereupon O'Reilly and the other guest, conservative commentator Jed Babbin, begin complaining about the so-called smear attacks each claims to have received from Media Matters. The whole segment, as it turned out, was devoted to slamming the respected media criticism site Media Matters for having published material uncomplimentary to O'Reilly and Babbin.

To learn exactly how O'Reilly's sneak attack on political bloggers (who, by the way, have done so much to energize ordinary citizens to become more active in politics) was organized and carried out, read Kline's "O'Reilly's Sneak Attack on Bloggers!" at Kline's blog- www.blogrevolt.com:
