Simply Audiobooks Breaks Through Traffic To Deliver Toronto Motorists A Cure For Their Commute North America's top audio book company sends medical teams into the streets of Toronto with prescriptions for audio books -- the cure for the dreaded daily commute. Toronto, Canada (PRWEB) October 7, 2005 -- Toronto drivers heading north on Spadina Avenue off the Gardiner Expressway had an unexpected visit from the doctor yesterday morning when they encountered a succession of medical teams handing out audio books as a cure for their commute.
Determined to catch motorists at their point of pain, Oakville-based Simply Audiobooks outfitted a team of actors in scrubs and stethoscopes and took to the streets with a series of signs that read “How was your commute today?”, “Honk if you hate traffic” and “Cure for your commute up ahead.”
“We wanted to get drivers to make the connection between audio books and long commutes and this is one creative way we thought we could do it,” said Sanjay Singhal, VP of Marketing at Simply Audiobooks. “We simply offered motorists a readily-available, physical cure for the boredom and frustration they feel day in and day out.”
In total, 1000 audio book CDs were prescribed from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Upon receiving their cure, appreciative motorists honked their horns in gratitude and continued their drive to work.
According to the Audio Publishers Association, the most popular place to listen to an audio book is in the car. In fact, 70 per cent of Simply Audiobooks’ subscribers use audio books to help make their commutes bearable.
The company plans to run subsequent Cure for the Common Commute promotions in New York, Los Angeles and other heavy commuter cities, as reported in the New York Times last month.
