New Business Book Predicts Biggest Business Screwups for the Coming Year Former turnaround business CEO offers candid advice on how business really works. San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 9, 2005 -- Gary Sutton's latest book, titled “Corporate Canaries…Avoid Business Disasters with a Coalminer's Secrets,” will hit book shelves on October 20, 2005. In his new business book, Sutton reveals important lessons on business problems based on the teachings of his grandfather, a coalminer. Just as the coalminers hung canaries in tunnels to warn them when deadly gases seeped in, the five “canaries” in Sutton's new business book explain to managers how to know when a business is headed for trouble.
When asked why he wrote this book on business, he said “Phone calls. Letters. Emails. All coming from jumpy managers, wondering if their businesses are headed in the right direction. All other business books seem to avoid discussing any downsides, but that's half the game.”
Sutton has been a turnaround business CEO for decades, making him uniquely qualified to provide solid advice on business problems. Layoffs, stock drops, credit downgrades and bankruptcies are nothing new to Sutton as he has run businesses in multiple industries, including printing, software, retail advertising, garbage, aerospace, burglar alarm and data storage.
Early reviews of Sutton’s book have been very positive. Kirkus Reports called the book “A must for any business,” while the CEO Refresher called it “…a quick and excellent read, and one of the best of the year.”
Sutton recently launched a related blog at www.coughingcanaries.com, which discusses why IBM, Coke, Wal-Mart, Procter & Gamble, Kodak, Google, Bank of America, Walgreens, Exxon, Hewlett-Packard, Disney, 3M, Boeing, Mattel and Microsoft will "slip from their perches" in 2006. With statements such as “Kodak died in 1993” and “Google is cheating on its ‘Do No Evil’ promise,” his blog is sure to spark interesting discussions on business problems.
Review copies of Sutton’s book are available to members of the media. Contact Gary Sutton at 858-459-1917 or garysutton(at)san.rr.com, or visit www.mediacorporatecanaries.com for more information.
