Lady Bass Anglers Heading to Lone Star State

The week of October 16-21 will see more than 200 women convening in the Dallas suburb of Lewisville, Texas to fish in the preview Women’s Bassmaster Tour tournament.

(PRWEB) October 14, 2005 -- Women from the four corners of the U.S. and Japan have anxiously awaited the opportunity to fish in a well funded and organized women’s competitive tournament trail. The Women’s Bassmaster Tour promises a bright future for these ladies and interest is evidenced by the greater than anticipated number of participants registered for the first event. ESPN, the worldwide leader in sports, is the parent company of B.A.S.S. and the Women’s’ Bassmaster Tour, W.B.T.

Fishing usually conjures up an image of a male dominated sport. Well, make no mistake; these ladies are just as accomplished and determined as their male counterparts. Not only that, they come from all walks of life and many of them work in what could be considered male oriented career fields: lawyers, corporate CEO’s, longshoremen, system analysts, and heavy equipment operators. And, they will travel great distances to participate. Angler and computer system engineer, Tami Kashiwabara of Nagano, Japan is making her fourth journey to the United States to compete in a women’s bass tournament.

Marcia Rubin, Ohio professional angler and business owner, was asked by LadyBassAngler.com to describe anglers that she admires. Without hesitation she said, “To be honest, I admire each and every one of the women who have signed up to fish the WBT. I know first hand the amount of research, money, and time involved when one makes the commitment to fish a tour of this magnitude. And, I am like many of the women involved; we are all trying to balance careers, family, and of course time out on the water.”

The women who fish for bass may all have unique backgrounds, but one thing in common is that they are passionate about the sport of competitive bass fishing! Biographies and other stories about these ladies can be found on the Lady Bass Angler website, www.ladybassangler.com, “The online meeting place for women who fish for bass”.
