"We Killed a Lot of Innocent People." Jimmy Massey, a US Marine Who Fought in Iraq, Describes Service on Video

Jimmy Massey served in the US Marines for twelve years before being granted an honorable discharge. During his tour of duty in Iraq he and his troop killed approximately 30 unarmed civilians including children. Jimmy Massey is now a leader in the pro-soldier anti-war movement. Metropole Filmworx (www.MetropoleFilmworx.com) has just released two video taped interviews with Jimmy Massey where he describes what he saw and did in Iraq, and why he can't support the war.

(PRWEB) October 17, 2005 -- Jimmy Massey served in the US Marines for twelve years. Trained as infantry, he was stationed in Parris Island as an infantry instructor for three years, then moved on to recruiting duty, then was deployed to serve as Staff Sergeant in Iraq in command of more than 35 men.

During his tour of duty in Iraq he and his troop killed approximately 30 unarmed civilians, including children.

Staff Sergeant Massey was unable to reconcile his training, US rhetoric regarding the "liberation of Iraq," and traditional American values with the orders he was given in Iraq. He refused to continue killing and asked to be seen by a psychologist who sent him back stateside immediately for treatment. Jimmy was ultimately granted an honorable discharge and a diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Jimmy Massey, a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War, is one of the leaders of the US Antiwar movement. His service as recruiter gives him unique insight into why people elect to become soldiers. His experience as an infantry instructor gives him an in-depth understanding of the disjoint between the instruction/training soldiers receive and battle as it is being waged in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Jimmy Massey is an intelligent, effective, straightforward speaker. He is pro-soldier. He believes soldiers have a right to serve in a military where the Geneva Convention and Rules of Engagement are strictly interpreted and enforced. He believes soldiers should be free from repeated "stop loss" deployments to war zones. He supports the rights of vets to prompt, state-of-the-art health care for injuries received and illnesses acquired during their time in service. He believes, strongly, that current administration policy regarding human rights abuse and torture is putting soldiers and Americans traveling abroad at greater risk.

Jimmy is a stalwart defender of the United States as defined by its Constitution. The people of the United States have a right to responsible government by elected officials who conduct the business of the nation out in the open and not in closed hearings and back rooms. He believes the people of the United States have a right to know what is going on in Iraq and the price soldiers are paying to fight this war.

Those interested in hearing a first person account of the war in Iraq from a leader in the antiwar movement will enjoy the two DVDs just released by Metropole Filmworx (www.MetropoleFilmworx.com).

The Recruitment & Service DVD is a 45 minute interview with Jimmy Massey where he discusses how soldiers have been recruited, military service, and some unique threats soldiers face in Iraq. He discusses issues ranging from economic conscription and stop loss, to depleted uranium and the Iraqi insurgency.

The Jimmy Massey At War DVD is a 45 minute interview with Jimmy Massey in which he discusses his experiences on the ground in Iraq. He discusses the unique training and culture of the current US Marine Corp which made these killings possible. Jimmy discusses coming home from Iraq, including the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which is a life-threatening illness more than 15% of US soldiers cope with on their return from Iraq. He also addresses his reasons for taking a public stand against the war in Iraq.

Taken together, these two DVDs represent a straight-forward, honest account of a well-trained Marine's experience at war in Iraq.
