Care2Learn Makes Donation to the Foundation for the Advancement of Elder and Disabled Care to Launch Long-Term Care Study Care2Learn, a national provider of online training and continuing education for healthcare professionals, has made a donation to the Foundation for the Advancement of Elder and Disabled Care to help underwrite the costs of a Consumer Expectations Study, being conducted by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living. This is the first such study in long-term care, to determine consumer expectations of care and services in nursing facilities and assisted living care. The long-term care sector of healthcare will begin to see an influx of seniors from the post World-War II “Baby Boom” era in about ten years, and inundated in coming decades. Although the profession will face enormous challenges to successfully accommodate this influx of residents and their families, very little research has been conducted in the area of consumer preferences and expectations and how these differ by generation. To prepare for the future population explosion, the profession needs to fully understand the upcoming changes and learn how to remold itself to meet the needs of seniors and their families.
According to Laura More, Chief Executive Officer and partner of Care2Learn, “Our donation will help raise the necessary funds to initiate this ground-breaking study, which will enable our profession to better meet consumer needs now and in the future. This important research project will study the care and living preferences that residents and their families will seek when selecting and transitioning to long term care facilities.”
