JobsInNH.com’s State Employment Index: Job Growth Strengthens in 3rd Quarter Every month the web site release an employment index based on the traffic on the site. This reveals employment trends within the state and the industries experiencing growth. WESTBROOK, ME (PRWEB) October 18, 2005 -- JobsInNH.com is the largest Internet job site in the state. Job Trends:
The following are the significant trends for the month of September 2005: - The number of job openings during this month (2,460) is down slightly (4%) from August, but up both 26% from July and 50% from the 2nd Quarter’s average. - A majority of the new job openings during September were in Rockingham County (32% of all jobs posted), Hillsborough County (24%) and Strafford County (21%). - Job openings activity covered a number of job types: - Manufacturing (21.9% of all jobs posted) - Construction (6.7%) - Sales (6.4%) - Healthcare (5.8%) - Customer Support (5.7%) - Banking/Finance (4.7%) - Clerical (4.4%) - Fifty-five percent of the job openings posted were from companies with fewer than 50 employees – more than 5% above last month. - Seventy-eight percent of the job openings during September were for full-time positions, down slightly from 83% in August. - 17% were part-time - 5 % were contract or per diem
Job Search Trends: The following are the significant trends for the month of September 2005: - The number of qualified searches (job seeker used specific parameters to search for a position) was 90,781--up slightly from the 2nd quarter average - The top job categories searched by job seekers were: - Healthcare (9.1% of all qualified searches) - Clerical (8.6%) - Accounting (7.5%) - IT positions (5.4%) - Manufacturing (4.8%) - Banking/Finance (4.6%) - Thirty-nine percent of the qualified searches also contained a geographic preference: - Rockingham County (30.3% of qualified searches) - Hillsborough (20.3%) - Strafford (16.8%) - A majority of the job seekers prefer to look for positions within close proximity to their homes. The commuting preference for job seekers was: - 1-30 miles - 56% - 31-40 miles - 19% - > 40 miles - 25%
