Doug Engel Wins Editor's Choice Fall Writing Contest

Doug Engel has won the Editor's Choice Writing Contest for the second time. Editor Audrey Owen says he has a unique voice that draws the reader into his memories.

(PRWEB) November 2, 2005 -- Doug Engel has won the Editor's Choice Writing Contest -- twice!

Engel's first win, in Spring 2004, introduced his lyrical style and nostalgic themes to Internet readers.

He continued the nostalgia with his Fall 2005 win, FISHIN' OFF THE POINT http://writershelper.com/writing-contest-pride-doug-engel.html, a vignette about childhood fishing illustrating the theme of pride. When contacted about his win, Engel said, "You could knock me over with a feather. Such a nice surprise."

Audrey Owen, the editor behind Editor's Choice Writing Contest, was not as surprised. "Doug Engel has a distinct voice with lots of appeal. I've read several of his stories. All draw the reader into his memories."

Engel has written a series of short stories and vignettes drawn from his childhood. He writes with a gentle humour and attention to detail that makes his work appealing to a wide audience.

Editor's Choice Writing Contest, http://www.writershelper.com/writing-contest.html , held four time each year, offers every entry a brief critique by Owen. "It's a great opportunity for a beginning writer to have an experienced editor comment on his or her writing. My own writing career got a shot in the arm from contest wins. This is one way I can give that opportunity to others."
