Discover The Adventure of Reading on International School Library Day Join Lee Edward Födi the “Wizard of Words” on October 24, 2005 as he celebrates International School Library Day and the release of his newest work, “Kendra Kandlestar & The Box of Whispers.” SURREY, B.C. (PRWEB) October 19, 2005 -- International School Library Day is Monday, October 24, 2005 and Canadian children’s author and illustrator Lee Edward Födi will be celebrating the event with the release of his newest work, Kendra Kandlestar and the Box of Whispers.
Födi said, “Libraries are the seeds that provide the foundations for lifelong learning and this is an important day. Students can discover the adventure of reading through the assistance of school libraries and gain important literacy and information skills as well. Libraries are most important for kids who perhaps have fewer resources and less books at home—and studies tell us that the more books kids at home, the better they generally do in school.”
This wizard of words shares the message that knowledge begins with one tiny seed and blossoms into greater power. Knowledge and the understanding of truth is the underlying message in "Kendra Kandlestar and the Box of Whispers."
Födi’s novel is the exciting new lead juvenile fiction title from Brown Books. The tale takes place in the fantasy land of Een where the library is a key setting. In the story, books grow on trees.
Födi said, “I am thrilled that my book is being released in conjunction with this important day. Libraries are magical hubs of discovery and provide unique opportunities for learning in the school environment.”
In addition to his work as an author and illustrator, Lee Edward Födi is the co-founder of Dream Workshop, a program run by Creative Writing for Children (CWC). CWC is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enhancing creativity, confidence, and capacity of children through well-tailored writing programs, workshops, and artful activities with a mentoring group composed of educators, published writers, and artists.
Kendra Kandlestar and the Box of Whispers is a combination of fairytale, folklore, and fantasy. Written with a whimsical sense of humor and flare this tale involves a magic chest that guards the most precious treasure in the Land of Een. When the box is suddenly stolen, young Kendra Kandlestar finds herself swept away on a magical adventure and discovers life lessons about loyalty, friendship, and facing fear.
Födi will be celebrating the day with an event at Clayton Elementary School in Surrey, BC, to promote literacy and writing. To learn more about the author Lee Edward Födi and his works visit www.leefodi.com.
