1 of a Kind Jewelry Mall is pleased to feature another member for her hard work and dedication in the jewelry industry. Kari Bryde has been a member of 1 of a Kind Jewelry Mall since September.

(PRWEB) October 21, 2005 -- 1 of a Kind Jewelry Mall is an online shopping mall specializing in handcrafted jewelry. They currently have members from various locations with a total of over seventy products. Their designers are much more than simply members of the mall. They are also upstanding members in their communities. As an online community 1 of a Kind Jewelry Mall is extremely proud of their members and classify them as truly being one of a kind. One of the members they are very pleased to have is Kari Bryde owner/designer of Novel Approach.

Novel Approach is owned and operated by designer, Kari Bryde. Kari’s background was in Interior Design before launching her jewelry designs, “I feel like jewelry pieces are mini architectural structures.” A change from designing environments that enhanced her clients’ lives to designing adornments that enhanced her clients’ personal images - just seemed like a natural transition. “The paramount goal of design, paralleled only to function and regardless to medium, is enhancement. Human beings naturally desire aesthetics as much they involuntarily breathe.” Kari’s use of design principles like color, repetition, rhythm, opposition, and balance create some stunning jewelry pieces. “I was always a fan of making a ‘WOW’ statement through design. With physical spaces impact was easily achieved with dramatic monochromatic color schemes, contrast through the shapes being used or by placing a focal point in a room. It’s been thrilling to utilize these same design principles effectively in jewelry design. It has taught me there is a continuum within an artist’s work and that continuum opens the door to infinite design solutions and exploration in my new medium of jewelry.”

Kari has a unique approach in today’s jewelry; she has taken the design philosophy of Sustainable Design from the Interior Design world and carried it over into jewelry design. “I was taught in design school that I had a duty as a designer to have an eye for existing elements that can be used in conjunction with new elements to create new designs.”

Kari is the first to use the term, “Repurposing” in reference to jewelry design. Repurposing your unused jewelry is not only environmentally responsible it also puts those meaningful baubles back on your neck or wrist so they may be worn as jewelry was intended to be! Although many jewelry designers use vintage components in their designs, Kari’s expertise is finding a rare vintage component and building a contemporary, one-of-a-kind design around it. “I like to find a way to create exclusive artisan pieces with a focus on current fashions. My design process is two-fold; I spend as much time searching for uncommon vintage elements as I do creating the design of the finished piece.” The vintage aspect in her work can be a focal point for a piece or it can be subtle vintage components found like little surprises in unexpected places within the composition of the piece. “Repurposing allows the history of a beautiful piece to be reincarnated. Women are emotional about jewelry, I love thinking about all the history wrapped up in the things we use to ornament ourselves. Self perception is powerful, the energy from how we see ourselves channels into the jewelry we wear and I love the job of unlocking that energy so it can be enjoyed over and over again.”

When you hold one of Kari’s pieces, you will immediately notice the details. Even the more simple pieces have purposeful components. “I feel like clasps are jewelry for your jewelry, not just a mechanism to keep the piece on.” It is these details that set Kari’s jewelry apart from other designers. Her necklaces are constructed so they are just as beautiful from the back as the front, “I guess that’s where my Interior Design background has paid off, I am used to designing in 3-D because you cannot completely control how someone will move around a space and therefore you need to prepare every angle for visual enjoyment.” Her bracelets have pendants usually reserved for necklaces. “I think the bracelet is underrated. A lot of women talk with their hands, we touch people on the arm when we greet them, we bring our hands to our face when we laugh or cry… the wrist is a perfect place to have an eye-catching piece of jewelry.”

Kari designs and constructs every piece by herself, one-by-one. She also accepts custom orders for repurposing pieces owned by clients or she can create a personal design for a client from scratch. Her jewelry designs use sterling silver, gold filled and/or vermeil metals; precious and semi-precious gemstones; crystals and glass. There is a focus on craftsmanship, and every piece is well made and will last a lifetime with the right care. Kari guarantees all of her pieces. She wants customers completely thrilled with their purchases and she goes to whatever means necessary so that is accomplished.

Kari is a member of the International Jewelry Designers’ Guild (IJDG). The IJDG is an “internet community of artists”. The group exists to support and showcase jewelry designers around the globe. IJDG's focus is on jewelry as personal “adornment” and personal “statement” — to be enjoyed for its design. The group’s mandate is “the design is of greater importance than the intrinsic value of the components.”

“When you get down to it, we all want to not only look pretty, but feel pretty. Jewelry is the perfect way to obtain both.” Please view some of Kari’s current designs at http://1ofakindjewelrymall.com/stores/kari/showstoredetails.php.
