This is an important resource for MRSA patients and their support network, as well as for schools, athletic organizations and others in our communities who are interested in learning more about the antibiotic resistant bacteria that are becoming more and more prevalent in our community setting.

College Station, TX (PRWEB) October 27, 2005

MRSAResources.com is pleased to announce the official launch of the Superbug Wiki Project at http://www.superbugwiki.com/. The Superbug Wiki is an open database focusing on MRSA and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. A growing catalog of information from various sources in print and from the WWW is contained within the Wiki, and is viewable and editable by anyone with access to the World Wide Web.

The Superbug Wiki Project was founded in August 2005 by Christina Jones, of College Station, TX. Her interest in Superbug education came from her husbands’ survival of a Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection of his spine, blood, and organ systems. The project is being maintained by MRSA Resources (http://www.mrsaresources.com), and its contributors - Ms. Jones, Denise Rauff of the Hands of Hope Group, Inc. and Maureen Daly - all of whom have been affected by MRSA and are working on a volunteer basis towards infection education, community awareness of MRSA and the reduction of hospital and community acquired MRSA infections.

The main areas of the Superbug Wiki include a Knowledge Base, a Superbug FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), a Prayer Chain and a Discussion Forum (http://www.discuss.superbugwiki.com/). The project currently contains approximately 100 articles, and is growing daily through the contributions of people all over the world. We invite anyone who is interested in the growing threat of antibiotic resistant bacteria to come and learn, ask questions and contribute information to the Superbug Wiki.

MRSA Resources was founded by Christina Jones in April of 2005 as a handy source of information for people who are battling MRSA infections and do not have a lot of time to research. Ms. Jones merged her efforts with Ms. Rauff, Ms. Daly and The Hands of Hope Group, Inc. (http://www.handsofhopegroup.com/) in August of 2005 in the interest of combining their strengths and resources. Together they provide educational articles, awareness brochures and other materials to anyone who wants them and they maintain an active and growing community of MRSA sufferers.
