UK Search Engine Takes on Google

The Majestic-12 Distributed Search Engine has found its 1,026,035,494,521st unique web page on the internet. This makes Majestic-12 the second organization in the world to publicly announce the 1 trillion web page milestone; the first was Google.

The Majestic-12 Distributed Search Engine (http://www.majestic12.co.uk) has found its 1,026,035,494,521st unique web page on the internet. This makes Majestic-12 the second organization in the world to publicly announce the 1 trillion web page milestone; the first was Google.

Five years ago today the Majestic12.co.uk Distributed Search Engine project was founded with the aim to create a community driven search engine based on distributed computing model.

The announcement provides an independent verification of the milestone announced in July last year, that Google's systems had detected 1 trillion (1,000,000,000,000) unique URLs on the web.

The web map can be explored by visiting Majestic SEO, where anyone can get free data by verifying ownership of their web site. There is an option to compare the back-link history over time and find competitor data. The web interface is currently used by Internet marketing professionals for link building.

Majestic-12 is additionally licensing processed data to other Internet technology partners including recent announcements from clients Wordtracker and SearchDNA.net.

Wordtracker is a leading keyword research service popular with search engine optimizers, web designers and marketers throughout the world.

SearchDNA.net is an SEO link, commerce, content and contact discovery engine and is now taking beta applications.

Neither Yahoo nor Microsoft (Bing) has publicly declared that they have reached this milestone. Majestic-12 is inviting other search engines to join the "webmap trillionaires club" in years to come.
