(PRWEB) October 26, 2005 -- An initiative to improve communication between police and private security professionals was announced by Minneapolis as a means to combat rising rates of livability crimes in the downtown business and entertainment district. “The Minneapolis City WorkSite,” says Luther Krueger, Crime Prevention Specialist for the Minneapolis Police Department’s First Precinct, “bridges the gap between public and private security professionals. It creates a collaborative network between police officers, security organizations, building owners, property managers, prosecutors, business leaders and community citizens. It’s a web link where the private side can share member to member, or submit security forms to us for use in prosecution. Being able to upload photos of offenders or video from security cameras, or sharing important documents, then sending out notifications in real time about real events - I gotta tell you, it gives us a leg up on the bad guys. In fact, the Safe Zone, which is represented by the Downtown Security Council, is the only area in Minneapolis to have crime rates going down. The City WorkSite is making our community a safer place to work and live”.

City WorkSite’s set of web-based tools include real time notifications of criminal activity reported member to member, online document management, a secure method for submitting security reports from private to public, a searchable database of security reports. With the City WorkSite, community attorneys forecast higher prosecution rates for livability crime. Another lasting benefit is evident in the improved relationships between public and private security professionals. The City WorkSite has created an equal partnership where collaboration is easy and effective.
