Blue Sky Energy Donates Lifetime Carbon Offsets to MTV’s College Network’s and Laurie David’s Curb Global Warming Sweepstakes VANCOUVER, BC – Blue Sky Energy Corp. today announced that it has offered to donate a Lifetime Offset Package of Carbon Offsets as a prize for mtvU’s Curb Global Warming Sweepstakes. So far, mtvU or Laurie David has not responded. Vancouver, B.C. (PRWEB) October 25, 2005 -- Blue Sky Energy Corp. today announced that it has offered to donate a Lifetime Offset Package of Carbon Offsets as a prize for mtvU’s Curb Global Warming Sweepstakes. So far, mtvU or Laurie David has not responded.
“The carbon offsets package that we are offering for the prize package, Larry David’s hybrid car from his HBO series, Curb Your Enthusiasm -- neutralizes 31.57 tons of carbon dioxide emissions from a typical hybrid car being driven 15,000 miles/year for 15 years,” says Jack Boyle, President of Blue Sky Energy.
“Landfill Gas projects like Weber County’s facility help fight global warming and the growing effects that carbon emissions are having on our climate, including the increasing frequency and severity of devastating hurricane’s, like Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita,” Boyle adds. By purchasing carbon offsets, drivers can do something about the carbon emissions from their cars and demonstrate to their family and community their contribution to fighting global climate change.
The Carbon offsets or greenhouse gas offsets offered for the prize winner are generated by Blue Sky Energy’s landfill gas energy project, located in Ogden, Utah by converting methane gas into carbon dioxide. By burning methane gas to produce electricity we prevent this gas from being released into the air. Methane gas is a much more potent greenhouse gas and is approximately 23 times more damaging than carbon dioxide. This unique project is owned by the people of Weber County, Utah. “The sale of carbon offsets benefits the citizen’s of Weber County and helps us finance and build more alternative energy facilities,” Boyle said. The cost to neutralize a car’s carbon emissions for a year is based on vehicle size and is comparable in most cases to the cost of a tank of gas.
