Sopogy Chooses MEMFlo Flow Transmitter For Solar Air Conditioning Demonstration Hawaii-based concentrating solar power company has selected Flow Line Options' MEMFlo MFT, two-wire flow transmitter and display, for its solar air conditioning system. The system is currently being used by the nation's largest natural gas utility to demonstrate the power of a solar air conditioning system. Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) October 15, 2009 Flow Line Options Corp. (Flo-Corp), a leading manufacturer and national distributor of flow and level instrumentation, today announced that concentrating solar power company, Sopogy, Inc. (Sopogy) has selected MEMFlo MFT™ flow transmitter for one of its solar air conditioning systems. Flo-Corp's MFT flow transmitter is being used in combination with Sopogy's MicroCSP™ solar thermal collectors to demonstrate the power of a solar air conditioning system. Southern California Gas Co. (The Gas Company) is currently conducting a demonstration at its Energy Resource Center in Downey, California to showcase innovative technologies from the world's leading solar companies, which includes Sopogy's advanced SopoCool system. SopoCool is Sopogy's proprietary solar air conditioning packaged system. The system combines an absorption thermal chiller, Sopogy's MicroCSP solar collectors and Sopogy's electric controls necessary to operate the system automatically. The utility's demonstration is part of an overall effort to provide customers with energy solutions that will reduce cost, increase efficiencies, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. "We are excited about the potential of these advanced solar power systems to provide cost savings, substantial energy and lead to the creation of green jobs," said Hal Snyder, Vice President of Customer Solutions for The Gas Company. He further explained that, "This project will help commercialize these solar technologies and provide a renewable resource to our customers, which contributes to California's renewable energy goals." According to Tal Ziv, Sopogy's Vice President of Operations, "The Flow Line Options meter was chosen for its ability to accurately measure flows at our target temperature." Flo-Corp's MFT flow transmitter is being used to measure the thermal fluid being processed by Sopogy's SopoCool system. "Accurate readings are critical to maximize system efficiency and thereby offset the use of fossil fuels," added Ziv. The new solar technology uses the sun's energy rather than the electric grid or natural gas to power air conditioning systems. "Flow Line Options is proud to support Sopogy in this important effort," said Dave Grumney, President of Flow Line Options. "We have a family of green products that accurately measure level and flow that will lead us into a future of energy independence." About Flow Line Options
