Diversified Therapy Signs Contracts for 17 New Wound Care Centers Nationwide

Diversified Therapt, a leading disease management copmany, opens 17 new Wound Care Centers Nationwide.

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) October 29, 2005 -- Diversified Therapy, the nation’s leading disease management company focusing on collaborating with hospitals to establish and manage comprehensive outpatient wound care programs, announces the signing of 17 new hospital contracts this year. The new wound care centers will be located at hospitals across the country, from Redding, CA to Philadelphia, PA. This exceptional growth increases the total number of Diversified Therapy hospital partnerships to 69 in 23 states, including 17 centers in Florida.

Several health and societal factors have helped spur Diversified Therapy’s rapid growth. The past number of years has seen an explosion of patients with chronic, non-healing wounds caused by factors such as diabetes, an aging population and radiation therapy. In fact, more than six million Americans suffer from chronic wounds with between 1.1 and 1.8 million new cases each year. Approximately 82,000 diabetics with wounds have amputations annually.

Also responding to the need for innovative wound care, medical companies are providing clinical advancements by introducing product lines and services specific to wound care. Additionally, there is better understanding among the healthcare community regarding the availability of more sophisticated wound care treatments and protocols. This greater awareness is spreading to patients as well who are becoming more educated about the benefits of managing and preventing problem wounds which could result in amputation or, in extreme cases, loss of life.

Diversified Therapy has grown substantially since its inception in 1996. Initially, there were two wound care centers and six employees. Upon joining the company in 1997, President and CEO Jim Henry broadened the strategic focus from hyperbaric oxygen therapy to include the emerging wound care market and professional training.

Today’s announcement of 14 new centers is a continuation of the ongoing development of the Diversified Therapy partnership model. “This is an exciting time for our company as we continue to grow hospital collaborations through our wound care programs,” says Henry. “There is greater awareness in the medical community of the value-added service that a specialized wound care center can provide.”

Focused on clinical excellence, Diversified Therapy leads the industry in the number of its centers that are accredited by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). There are currently 14 UHMS accredited Diversified Therapy centers nationwide. The designation is based on an evaluation of the facility and equipment, staff training and the quality of care and patient safety. Additionally, Diversified Therapy is accredited with Disease-Specific Care Certification from the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) for demonstrating excellence in healthcare quality in its comprehensive wound care management services.

Says Henry, “The key to Diversified Therapy’s phenomenal growth is the clinical excellence we bring to the relationship with our partner hospitals. Our ultimate goal is to help hospitals heal patients.”
