A Fresh Introduction of Live Music, Dining, and Dance to Chelsea

GO-GO Nightclub brings live music, top DJ's, dining, dancing, and theater back to Chelsea and the Flatiron District's of Manhattan.

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 30, 2005 -- This week will mark the debut of a highly anticipated newcomer to the hyper competitive nightclub scene in Manhattan. GO-GO Nightclub and Restaurant, the creation of partners Paul Drohan (QUO, OHM, and Mirage) and John Zaremba (Scopa), will quickly change the way New Yorkers think of night life.

Clearly determined to set GO-GO apart from other venues Drohan and Zaremba engaged renowned designer Brinton Brewster (Lobby, Snitch, and R&R) along with creative consultant Rik Parker (QUO & Plaid) to help in realizing their ideas.

“GO-GO is to be a merger of various takes on common trends in Western culture,” said Mr. Parker, “paying homage to Eastern adoration of America’s Rock ‘n’ Roll era, bringing the freedom of the American 1960’s to modern Japan, extolling the virtue of one world under music, fashion, food, and dance.”

Brewster clearly took hold of this theme and brought the same touch of brilliance displayed on his previous projects to GO-GO. The Main Room is bathed in a rich deep red that provides great warmth and a pleasing accompaniment to a well planned lighting scheme.

There is expansive stadium seating lining the walls, a full stage for live acts, and authentic GO-GO Dancer platforms complete with a floor to ceiling pole, for what are sure to be dramatic exits by dancers descending from a high platform to the main dance floor. The design team paid close attention to every detail adding and making full use of a previously underutilized space. Above a generous length Main Bar is a large water wall accented with multiple lighting sets for numerous hypnotic effects.

GO-GO seems poised to give other venues a lot of competition this winter. Mr. Drohan was clear in his goal to bring back a number of things he feels nightlife in Manhattan is sorely missing. Following this weekend’s private Grand Opening the venue plans to host a variety of events from weekly live bands and big name DJs to corporate events and cabaret. The last of which will debut on the very first night when GO-GO becomes the new home of the critically acclaimed Donkey Show.

Although the restaurant will not open for another month, GO-GO is still event ready with full kitchen staff and chefs from top restaurants around the city. When launched, GO-GO’s restaurant will serve a large menu of great Italian food, which will refuel the nightclubs VIP’s well into the early morning hours.

GO-GO’s business model looks to be very tight which bodes well for a neighborhood that has hosted some other well known and longstanding venues. Located on 19th street between 5th and 6th avenues, diners and partygoers will have little trouble finding GO-GO’s velvet ropes and even less trouble finding a cab for the ride home.
