SDK joins forces with Adaptive Services Grid(ASG) for European Semantic Systems Initiative (ESSI)

Galway, Ireland (PRWEB) November 14, 2005

The SDK (SEKT, DIP, Knowledge Web) Cluster proudly announces a strategic alignment with ASG (Adaptive Services Grid) resulting in the formation of the European Semantic Systems Initiative (ESSI) .

ASG will add value to the new ESSI cluster by providing a proof-of-concept prototype of an open platform for adaptive services discovery, creation, composition, and enactment. ASG will further its research to include adaptive services discovery, creation, composition, and enactment. These areas will augment the work already facilitated by projects within SDK.

According to Prof. Dr. Mathias Weske, the ASG Scientific Coordinator at the Hasso Plattner Institute of IT Systems Engineering, University of Potsdam.

“ASG will bring to the ESSI partnership a flexible open development platform which enriches existing web services with metadata and which will allow for the creation of new semantically rich services.”

Dr John Davies, BT Project Director at SEKT - one of the original SDK partners - said, “We welcome ASG to the new ESSI Cluster. The cluster represents a significant European initiative in realising the benefits of semantic technology in a wide range of applications areas based on the use of semantic web services and semantic knowledge management”.

The ESSI cluster is active in promoting its projects accomplishments and activities through a variety of Semantic Web conferences, symposiums and workshops. To learn more about the cluster and view a list of upcoming events please visit http://www.essi-cluster.org.
