"Cool. Single. CEO." Connects Successful, Single Entrepreneurs Through Social Media

SIngleStartups.com, newly launched in 2009, features CEO interviews that provide users access to social media contacts.

A new source for journalistic interviews with entrepreneurs has emerged in the wake of traditional news media decline. Two things set "Cool. Single. CEO." apart. Social media contacts, increasingly important in the world of web 2.0, are included with every interview, and all the entrepreneurs featured on the website just happen to be single.

Created by Laura Silverthorn (Mother Ink), the site was designed as a way to spotlight this niche group of entrepreneurs, but, more importantly, as a way to allow them to network. Featured in Inc. Magazine herself this year, Silverthorn missed the opportunity to meet others in a similar position, both professionally and socially, through the exposure that came from the traditional media outlet (where news stories sit on pages next to one another but never meet). Under the assumption that it takes an unusually resilient individual to embark on a new venture without a social backup, and seeking to facilitate those connections for others, she set out to create the community of "SIngle Startups" as it exists today. Initial interest has been strong.

Recently featured guests have included PR experts, technology startup CEOs, retailers, environmentally-focused company heads, and serial entrepreneurs. Though entrepreneurs of any age are eligible for a feature, the response so far has been overwhelming positive in the 20-40 year age group, with the majority of interviews focused on this demographic. Each interview is followed by the social media contacts preferred by the guest, generally Facebook fan pages and Twitter, though some are comfortable offering email contacts. Expanded content, to include video, are expected to launch by year's end.
