Indiana Hospital Implements its First Intranet Portal

besides policies and procedures. "Now we have an entire system that I can use to communicate with staff, board members and medical personnel along with inputting electronic forms," Dennison said. "As a result, our people are embracing the system."    

Prior to the installation of HospitalPortal's Intranet, Dennison said he had to spend time verifying the most recent versions of policies, all of which were limited to paper. It was a time-consuming task that has been alleviated by the portal. "I especially like the ability to log-on from home, check a policy, know that it is updated and make a decision about what a staff member can do," Dennison said. He added that the portal's archiving system offers the hospital a valuable historical record should any issues arise.

"It's an intuitive system and we're excited about how we can grow with it," Dennison said. "Above all, we've had good support and training and because of that, we were able to set a realistic goal and stick with it."
