New York (PRWEB) November 18, 2005 -- In an exclusive InstitutionalInvestor.com interview, former Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Harvey Pitt, talks about his transformation since leaving the SEC.

When discussing the circumstances that lead him to leave the SEC, Pitt says, "There will always be people that want to politicize every issue and certainly people wanted to do that with my chairmanship," Currently, as the chief executive of Kalorama Partners, a Washington, D.C.-based consultancy that advises companies on compliance issues, Pitt says he is aiming to achieve what he had hoped to accomplish at the SEC.

"I had thought for a long time about the advantage of providing more strategic and pragmatic advice to clients and not looking at things through rigid or legalistic blinders,” he told nstitutionalInvestor.com. “I want to help companies, firms and others that want to get ahead of the curve and I thought this was the best vehicle for doing that."

In the InstitutionalInvestor.com interview, Pitt also defends the Sarbanes Oxley Act and dismisses that notion that the ruling steers global companies away from U.S. based exchanges. "Basically SOX is becoming, and will overtime become, the defacto standard for the world."
