Steve Smith leads HP's Services organization which provides industry-leading knowledge and technologies that make the Adaptive Enterprise a reality for customers. Together, Consulting and Integration, Technology Services and Managed Services offer end-to-end solutions capability across the IT lifecycle, while Global Delivery ensures consistent, competitive deployment worldwide. Most recently, Steve was Vice President, Global Managed and Professional Services at Lucent Technologies. There he was responsible for leading Lucent's initiative to become the top consulting and network integrator worldwide.
Prior to joining Lucent, Steve spent 16 years at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) where he held numerous key leadership roles. In 1996 he became Managing Director for Southeast Asia and was responsible for sales, marketing and delivery for all EDS business in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and India. In 1998, he moved from Singapore to Wellington to become the Managing Director for New Zealand. In this role, he was responsible for all operations including leading the integration of strategic acquisitions there into the EDS organization. In just two years, he was able to pull the diverse organizations together and negotiated a $1 billion, 10 year contract with Telecom New Zealand.
Next, Steve moved to the Bay Area of California to head up the Western Region for EDS. With $1.5 billion dollars in annual revenue, this was EDS' largest and fastest growing region. Here, Steve built strong relationships with customers like Sun Microsystems, Chevron Texaco and the Weyerhaeuser Company. In 2000 he returned to Asia, this time living in Hong Kong, to lead the strategically important Asia Pacific Region. There, he was able to bring together a strong leadership team focused on delivering consistently to customers and growing the business. Steve returned to the US to become EDS' Chief Sales Officer. In this role he coordinated all sales activities for the $21 billion corporation. He also led teams dedicated to key global enterprises in pursuit of the largest services agreements in the world. Steve grew up in upstate New York, USA and has a Bachelor of Science and Engineering degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point
