Selected Full-Length Copies Of The Classic Television Series: "The Original Amateur Hour" Now Available To The General Public

A unique opportunity for former contestants, their friends and relatives, to obtain copies of their once-in-a-lifetime appearances on Ted Mack’s famous TV series

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) November 18, 2005 -- For the first time ever, selected editions of the classic television series: “Ted Mack and The Original Amateur Hour” will be made available to the general public. The programs will be available in their entirety, just as they first aired in the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s including even the old commercials. Albert Fisher, a Los Angeles based television producer was one of the talent scouts on the TV series that was a predecessor to today’s “American Idol.” He now represents the program that gave talented amateurs a chance at fame and fortune.

“Over the years, scores of famous people were discovered on ‘The Original Amateur Hour’” notes Fisher. “These include stars such as Frank Sinatra, Ann-Margret, Gladys Knight, Pat Boone, Robert Klein, Nick Carter of 'The Backstreet Boys,' Raul Julia, and many others. But the series also offered an opportunity for the average amateur performer to have their own few minutes of on-camera time to show off their own particular talent” says Fisher.

The vast archives of rare old filmed kinescopes are now stored in vaults at The Library of Congress in Washington, DC. Many of these shows are now being offered to people who have an interest in these landmark programs through the official Amateur Hour website:

www.originalamateurhour.com.

“This affords families the chance to recapture that one moment in time when a loved one made their first national appearance on television” says Fisher. Additionally, if anyone simply wants a classic edition of one of the shows for their own personal viewing, that can be arranged too. On the home page of the Original Amateur Hour web site, there is a direct link to request copies of specific performances or general shows.

Also available through www.originalamateurhour.com is the new 2-DVD set of the history of the series including clips of some of the most famous performers plus another DVD devoted entirely to the crazy and zany novelty acts there were a mainstay of “Ted Mack and The Original Amateur Hour” as well as clips from the revival series in 1992 with Willard Scott: “The New original Amateur Hour.” The DVD set is hosted by “Amateur Hour” graduate, Pat Boone and contains many “extras” including full-length shows and 1930’s era motion picture shorts from the radio “Amateur Hour” series which was hosted by Major Edward Bowes.
