'Bulldog Power!' Song Makes Radio Debut; Just in Time to Hype The Biggest Football Game in Fresno State History

Infinity Radio stations KMJ 580 and MEGA 97.9 feature an original song written & produced by award-winning composer and Fresno State alumni, Earl Grizzell. The CD was designed to rally the “Red Wave” fan base, with lyrics that highlight the exciting reputation of Fresno State Athletics.

At 7 a.m., Earl Grizzell left his home in Visalia with the sole purpose of leaving his new “Bulldog Power!” CD with on-air radio personalities Ray Appleton and Brian Anthony, just for their review. The result? Within minutes of hearing the funky R&B piece, Anthony placed the song on the MEGA Oldies play list. Appleton led-off with the tune on his popular “Talk Show” format, singing it’s praises for the better part of 2-hrs.

Referring to the production as a “labor of love,” Grizzell said he approached the Fresno State Athletic Department with his theme song idea last summer. “I realized that after what the program had been through last year, our football team and new A.D. had to be successful right out of the blocks, leaving the negatives behind, lifting the program to new heights. All I wanted to do was add some fire to the mix.”

Backed by some of L.A.’s finest studio musicians & singers, Larry Braggs, lead singer for legendary band ‘Tower of Power’ takes charge with a powerful vocal track. "This song makes you want to 'get-on-up' and dance," says Braggs. There’s even a 'Red Wave Breakdown' section that’s perfect for stadium play, encouraging fans to do what they are nationally famous for, “The Red Wave!”

Ray Appleton called attention to the accomplished 20-yr. career of Grizzell as “Award-winning and World Class writing and production.” Ray informed his audience that part of the proceeds of the CD will go to the Fresno State Bulldog Foundation. Plans are on track to make the music available for purchase prior to the home game with Louisiana Tech on December 2nd.
