U.S. Author Mike Broemmel To Donate Royalties to HIV/AIDS Relief Services: “The Miller Moth Project” Launched on Thanksgiving Day

U.S. author Mike Broemmel launches "The Miller Moth Project" to benefit organizations and agencies that provide support services to HIV and AIDS patients.

SOUTH MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, U.S.A (PRWEB) November 24, 2005 -- Author Mike Broemmel, who divides his time between Miami Beach, Florida, and Denver, Colorado, has announced that in 2006 all of the proceeds from his book entitled “The Miller Moth” will be donated to HIV/AIDS patient support services. To further this end, Broemmel will be participating in a series of fundraisers in twelve U.S. cities throughout the first half of 2006. As with the proceeds from the sale of “The Miller Moth,” the proceeds from these twelve events will be donated directly to agencies that provide support services to patients diagnosed with HIV or AIDS.

The fundraising program will be known as “The Miller Moth Project,” recognizing the ubiquitous nature of moths and the fact that AIDS can strike people from all walks of life.

“It strikes me that patient support services for men, women and children afflicted with HIV or AIDS remain markedly under funded. Therefore, beginning in 2005, I began to look for ways in which I might be able to lend a bit of help to those people who are suffering from this terrible disease and who really do not have all of the support they actually need to make it through the day in a dignified and appropriate manner,” Broemmel said in summing up his reasons for the fund raising effort.

Through Broemmel’s efforts, events will be held in a dozen cities beginning in February, 2006. “The events themselves will take a number of different forms, depending on the needs of a particular agency, my existing connections with a particular community and local interest. In other words, events will include pretty standard book signings as well as cocktail receptions and the like,” Broemmel explained.

The twelve cities that have been chosen for events in 2006 are:

Denver, CO

Kansas City, MO

Los Angeles, CA

Phoenix, AZ

Omaha, NE

Miami Beach, FL

Des Moines, IA

St. Louis, MO

Washington, D.C.

Ft. Lauderdale, FL

Louisville, KY

San Francisco, CA

In addition, the proceeds from every copy of “The Miller Moth” sold through any bookstore in the brick and mortar world or any outlet on the Internet will also be donated towards local agencies that provide support services to people afflicted with HIV or AIDS. Broemmel’s books are available through any major book seller either in the “real world” or online. “The Miller Moth” is published by BeWrite Books, a European based publishing house, and are sold worldwide.

“The Miller Moth” is a collection of literary short fiction with individual stories addressing a number of contemporary issues. One story does focus on the relationship of two elderly sisters with their nephew, who is dying from AIDS. The piece is described by BeWrite Books Senior Editor Neil Marr as “realistic, honest, tender and hopeful story about living and dying and how we might all approach both with dignity, love and understanding.”

“Obviously, this is only a small effort to provide some needed support to people facing a difficult disease,” Broemmel said. “There is so much that needs to be done. But, I am a believer in the old adage that every little bit helps.”
