When he saw the L.A. Laugh Factory's eBay auction, he bid $7600 for the honor of his name on the club's marquee below Jon Lovitz', and ten minutes opening for the SNL alumni. (PRWEB) November 25, 2005 -- Actor-Comedian Mark Moseley bid $7600.00 on eBay to win a chance to open for Jon Lovitz at the L.A. Laugh Factory. The auction benefits the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. “My family all live down there”, says Mark “I grew up in Southern Mississippi, and worked in radio along the Gulf Coast, including in New Orleans. I have a lot of love for that area. This money will help a lot of folks who are still hurting.”
Moseley, one of the stars of Disney’s Mulan 2, is a stand-up comic and actor who has appeared in movies such as Shrek 2, and TV shows, including Father of the Pride. Mark currently appears in multiple roles in newly-released video game hits Shrek Super Slam, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and True Crime-New York City. Moseley will also voice several animal characters in the upcoming release of Dr. Dolittle 3.
Mark is excited to be working to help Katrina victims with The Laugh Factory, and its owner Jamie Masada, who are well-known for their charitable efforts, including the Laugh Factory’s annual Comedy Camp for underprivileged children, and its Thanksgiving event, feeding the homeless and hungry. For his contribution, Mark will open on Wednesday, November 30th for Jon Lovitz, who graciously agreed to support the Laugh Factory’s Ebay auction, knowing the high bidder could have been anyone, even someone who had never done stand-up comedy before! Lovitz says: “I think the important thing is to recognize Mark Moseley’s extreme generosity in donating $7,600 to help hurricane victims, and I really hope he has a great show.”
Mark will entertain for ten minutes, be seen by talent bookers for the Tonight Show and Conan O‘Brien, and will, along with Jon and Jamie, present the American Red Cross with a check for $7600.00. Mark, who has volunteered for the American Red Cross, including answering phones at their Santa Clarita offices, is aware of the charity’s current desperate need for funds. “They had to borrow money recently to cover the commitments they’ve already made to people. They have done amazing things, like coming in and paying for the hotel room I had my parents staying in after the storm-that blew my mind. I love this organization. I’m thrilled to help them.”
