Quirky Art Featured at Monument, Colorado Library

Described as "Peter Max colliding with Kandinsky," 9 works created by local Colorado illustrator-artist Jan C.J. Jones titled, “Whimsical Doodles’ Whimsical Worlds” will be on display at the Monument Branch Library beginning January 1.

Monument, CO (PRWEB) December 12, 2005 -- Described as "Peter Max colliding with Kandinsky," W. Doodle's Whimsical Worlds transport the viewer into mostly lighthearted colorful abstract scenes filled with geometry, wonderfully composed spaces occupied (in some cases) by unfamiliar, otherworldly creatures. Each drawing represents a small segment of a much greater story to be completed or continued by the viewer. Intended to incite the imagination and inspire creativity, observers are invited to complete the story. The works' titles denote the quizzical aire of whimsy created, for example, "The Rastafarian Flute-Harpist Arrived Late," and yes, he's there, but what "he" is, is not exactly certain. For those who are addicted to their reflection, "A Beautiful Mind is Better than a Pretty Face" (shown) depicts a lesson on the vainness of a narcissist's vanity. Youngsters and oldsters alike chuckle as they ponder the story behind each Whimsical Doodle.

The Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds collection was juried and selected in September to be displayed both in the Monument Branch Library and in the new Briargate Branch Library (in March) by the Pikes Peak Library District’s art selection committee. Whimsical Doodle’s Whimsical Worlds was featured in the 2005 Boulder Fringe Art Festival (Boulder, CO) as well as the 2005 Renegade Artists Festival in Estes Park, CO.
