Congressman Jim Saxton To Address New Jersey Businesses

The Question and Answer session hosted by the Greater Lumberton Business Association will be held at the Ocean ‘n Motion Playcenter in Mount Laurel, New Jersey

Lumberton, NJ (PRWEB) November 30, 2005 -- The Greater Lumberton Business Association will host a Meeting and Discussion with Congressman Jim Saxton on Monday, December 12, 2005 from 5:00-7:00pm at Ocean ‘n Motion, Larchmont Commons Shopping Center, 3111 Rt. 38 West, Unit 5, Mount Laurel, NJ. This is a free event open to all businesses in the Lumberton, Mount Laurel, Hainesport, Medford, Eastampton, Southampton, Westampton, and Mount Holly New Jersey areas. Approximately 60-to-70 individuals from businesses within the area are expected to attend this discussion about the economy.

"Healthy businesses are the foundation of a community," said Saxton, himself a former small business owner. "A good local economy relies on healthy businesses. In turn, jobs are created or retained, and goods and services become available to consumers. I'm pleased to meet with a group of leaders who make these things happen, and am grateful to the Greater Lumberton Business Association for inviting me."

"We are grateful for the opportunity to have US Congressman Jim Saxton listen to and address the concerns of business owners in the Greater Lumberton area. We feel this is a meeting that members and prospective members will highly value," said Barry Lefkowitz, President of the Greater Lumberton Business Association, and Management and Government Resources (MGR).

Congressman Jim Saxton, who resides in Burlington County, has served in the U.S. House of Representatives for New Jersey's Third Congressional District since 1984. His record in striving for clean water, clean air, coastal protection, wildlife protection and open space has established the congressman as a leading conservationist in the Congress.

In January 2005 the Speaker of the House appointed him to become Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) of the House and U.S. Senate. He is the highest-ranking House member on the JEC. In 2005, he was also reappointed as chairman of the House Armed Services Committee's (HASC) Terrorism, Unconventional Threats and Capabilities Subcommittee (He chaired the HASC Military Construction Subcommittee 2001-2002). He is also Vice Chairman of the House Resources Committee's Fisheries and Oceans Subcommittee, (Chairman 1994-2000, Vice Chairman 2000- 2002).
