DNA Products Donates Disposable Travel Underwear to Hurricane Survivors

The makers of "wear and discard" disposable travel underwear donate 1,000 pairs of underwear to Hurricane Katrina survivors.

New York, NY (PRWEB) December 1, 2005 -- DNA Products (www.dnaproductsonline.com), a New York-based disposable apparel and linens company, reflects on its recent charitable donation to the Hurricane Katrina survivors.

"The disposable underwear that we offer are targeted to the traveler and outdoor enthusiast who is without laundry facilities or has limited clean water. The underwear is cut to fit and feel like conventional underwear yet travelers simply wear and discard their underwear after each use," says Danita Harris, president of DNA Products. "In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, I can't think of a more applicable use or better recipients for our goods than the hurricane victims."

Harris explains how her company got involved. "In late September, we participated in a clothing drive for Katrina survivors sponsored by Phat Farm clothing company. Knowing that Russell Simmons, the head of Phat Farm, has long been dedicated to numerous philanthropic efforts, we felt very good and confident about joining in the clothing drive. All in all, we donated 1,000 pairs of our LeBrief women's disposable briefs and we were very happy to do it."

Harris notes that soon after Katrina devastated the Gulf States, her company also received several urgent requests from relief volunteers who planned to pack and wear disposable underwear while working in the coastal region. "In September and October, we kept receiving emails from people wanting to know if their online order could be sent overnight so they'd receive their package before heading off to work in the Gulf the next day."

It's no wonder why the underwear were so urgently needed. The underwear are offered in three, five, or seven-piece packages roughly the size of a postcard, weighing less than three ounces-making it easy to transport and carry. Additionally, each piece is individually wrapped so the underwear remain clean and dry. And while the underwear are intended to be worn once then discarded, the lightweight and durable quick-drying polypropylene fabric allows wearers to hand wash, lay flat to dry, and reuse the underwear several times.
