CricketSoda Media is hosting a Myspace layout design contest and will give away $100 to the best Myspace Layout submitted. Users can enter the contest as many times as they wish and submit as many designs as they can create.

About the Contest

CricketSoda.com is looking for graphic design artists to help create an expansive catalogue of personalized Myspace layouts so people can change their Myspace profile by adding a bit of code.

If you are good at this type of thing, you could win our grand prize of $100, or our second and third place prizes of $10. We are looking for slick designs that will appeal to a lot of people. These designs can include images, but must work for a Myspace Profile and look good in Internet Explorer and Firefox.

No image may be copyrighted, and you may have to show proof of ownership for images if we feel it is necessary for our protection.

Our main goal is to spark a creative competition between our users, and to help build an online directory that will help people change their MySpace profiles to better fit their personality.

How to enter

To enter the contest, design an HTML or CSS layout for a Myspace Profile and submit it using the entry form below. If your design includes images you will have to submit them to our confirmation department so they can approve the image and make sure it isn’t copyrighted.

You must submit the code needed to change the layout on Myspace.

You may submit as many designs as you wish. The best design wins!

We will display all the designs and let the viewers as well as the electoral college vote on their favorite one.

Prizes

Grand prize winner will receive $100 and free advertising for any project they may have. Second prize gets $10 and free advertising for any project they may have. Third prize is $10. All entrants will have their design displayed on our website.

General Tips

• Flashy designs that hurt our eyes probably won’t win, unless of course the flash is truly unique. (hasn’t happened yet)

• Images that are large and take a long time to load will cause people with slow connections to cry when their computer crashes.

• Don’t use clashing colors. They need to look nice together, like something you would put in your bedroom that you would feel comfortable sleeping in.

Rules of the Game

You can enter the contest as many times as you want, each time with a different design. The entries will be judged under anonymous serial numbers, and the names of the winners will not be disclosed until all the designs have been seen and a winner decided.

All designs must not infringe on any copyright or trademark of any company, organization, or person. They must be original unique work of the submitter.

By submitting the design you license us to use the design in our Myspace Layouts directory. People will be able to use these layouts free of charge by copying and pasting the code we provide. We will ask for a donation to pay for the bandwidth from so many Myspace profiles and show ads to support the website.

Entries will be accepted from November 30th, 2005, to January 30, 2006 -- and the winner will be announced on Valentines day. Entries will be posted to the website as soon as possible, allowing users to vote and use them on their profiles.

We will take into consideration any comments we get from users, the popular vote for best design, and our own knowledge of design to choose a winner.

We must get a total of 30 or more designs before we will announce a winner. If we do not have that many by the deadline we will extend the contest until we do.

Employees, relatives, and friends of anyone involved with CricketSoda are not allowed to enter or participate in the contest.

Sponsor Listings

When you submit your design to CricketSoda, you are giving that design to us to use in our Myspace directory. Each of these layouts will feature a link back to our directory to further promote the directory.

If you wish you can purchase a sponsor listing on your design that will provide a link to your website or project instead of our directory. This is a great way to promote your project. Thousands of people use CricketSoda everyday and your design will end up on endless profiles.

Sponsor listings are $45 and will last as long as your design is up and people use it on their Myspace. To order a sponsor listing indicate that when you submit the design.
