(PRWEB) December 8, 2005 -- The ninth annual Compassion Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting is Sunday, December 11, 2005 at 7 PM around the globe. It is an opportunity for bereaved families everywhere to remember and celebrate the lives of children who have gone too soon.

Visit the http://compassionatefriends.org website and click on your state or country to view Candle Lighting events in your area. Supporters can even submit an event if one does not exist in their area. Participants do not have to be a member of the Compassionate Friends network.

Angela "Racehorse" Knight of White Cloud Missing Kids has taken support for the candle lighting one step further. She has set up a petition introducing a "National Children's Memorial Day" at http://www.gopetition.com/online/7639.html

"The idea behind a 'National Children's Memorial Day' is to offer love, compassion, comfort, and support to grieving families. Join White Cloud's Warriors in the blessing of the lands with a spirit of unity and commitment across the nation for one cause, protection of a child. The program includes favorite songs: Send Your Anointing, Hold on, He take you through the fire again, Music to My Heart, Warrior Cry, Not Forgotten, You take my breath away."

Suggested locations to hold candle lighting include schools, parks, recreation centers, entertainment stadiums, malls, retail stores, communities, hospitals, and private locations to honor the lost, but never forgotten children.

Supporters are encouraged to sign the petition. "The petition is designed to share the need for a national day of Worldwide Candle Lighting on the 2nd Sunday in December, in remembrance for all children who have died or are missing, as well as for all missionaries, aides and child activists who have given their lives to help children in other countries," says Racehorse.

"This is the day for awareness and remembrance of the missing and slain children around the world and taking a moment to light a candle in their memory. There is a need for every country to commit themselves to the protection, prevention, and reduction of high risk child endangerment around the globe. The United States must lead the way. We must take our kids out of harms way," adds Racehorse.
