Closing the Kitchen at a Medical Center for Renovation is not an Option. So What Do You Do?

KitchensToGo built and installed a state-of-the-art modular kitchen complex for Banner Thunderbird Medical Center. This modular complex is allowing continuous foodservice to the Medical Center and its patients during the one-year renovation.

Naperville, IL (PRWEB) November 17, 2009

KitchensToGo, an industry leader in mobile kitchens and modular kitchen solutions, constructed an efficient modular complex, allowing for continuous foodservice during Banner Thunderbird Medical Center's renovation.

KitchensToGo examined Banner Thunderbird Medical Center's needs for continual foodservice to the Medical Center during the highly anticipated, major renovation project. KTG provided a nine-modular kitchen complex to include two cooking modules with extensive cook lines, a preparation module, two serving modules, a dishwashing module, three cart storage modules and an employee locker/restroom area. Additionally, two walk-in coolers and three walk-in freezers are attached to the complex.

"Our transition to the new kitchen was perfect; it had everything we needed and was very well designed," says Julie Spelman, Director of Food and Nutritional Services at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.

Banner Thunderbird is involved in the construction of a new 200-bed patient tower, a new main entrance, emergency department, cafeteria and fully remodeled kitchen. The challenge was to provide uninterrupted foodservice to patients, visitors and staff. KitchensToGo provided a solution to this problem with a fully functional, streamlined and efficient modular kitchen that is designed to allow for continual foodservice throughout the renovation project.

Banner Thunderbird is a nonprofit, 409-bed acute-care hospital offering an array of services to its patients. Banner Thunderbird has served Glendale, Arizona and the Northwest Valley for more than 25 years. The Medical Center's ultimate goal was to maintain the quality level of foodservice to patients, staff and visitors during the renovation, and Kitchens-To-Go provided a solution.
