Governor Schwarzenegger has Created State Sponsored Danger Zone for Disabled Injured Workers, Claims Nurse Barbara Clark

Nurse and plaintiff in lawsuit against California’s Department of Industrial Relations acting director John Rea cites horror stories of other injured workers

Bakersfield (PRWEB) December 8, 2005 -- To say nurse Barbara Clark’s world has been turned on its ear may be an understatement. The registered nurse practitioner filed a federal civil rights lawsuit last week in Sacramento federal court (USDC for EDC CASE: 2:05 - CV – 02410) against the State’s highest workers’ compensation official, John Rea.

“Since the filing of the lawsuit, and the following publicity, injured workers have been calling me with their own horror stories about the broken workers compensation system,” Clark said. Her lawsuit alleged, among other things, that Governor Schwarzenegger was unsympathetic to the suffering of disabled injured workers.

“It is obvious to me that lax and foot dragging state regulators have created a dangerous environment that has placed disabled injured workers in peril,” she continued.

Clark cites a California Medical Association (CMA) report released October 25th that called for tougher enforcement and auditing of California’s workers compensation plan. According to Clark the thrust of the CMA report was that physicians were dropping out of the system and not treating injured workers.

“The state has a duty to disabled injured workers to cure this dangerous environment. Medical procedures to prevent life threatening health problems are simply ignored, thanks to the lax state regulators,” Clark said. “This is why I sued John Rea,” she said.
