Preliminary Human Study Results For ZPRO Q-Slim Supplement May Rival Results Of Sanofi Drug Candidate Acomplia (Rimonabant) Without Reported Side Effects For Acomplia

Early preliminary results from ZPRO Pharmaceutical, Inc. for a new, inexpensive, non-prescription weight-loss supplement fiber Q-Slim (non-exclusive sale license recently granted to ZORBA Nutraceuticals, Inc., see November 30, 2005 press release, http://www.prweb.com/releases/2005/11/prweb315974.htm) provides extraordinary and wonderful promise for this powerful new fat sponge formulation. In addition to significant weight loss as compared to CortiSlim and placebo control groups, participants taking the Q-Slim supplement had lower cholesterol and lower triglycerides levels, while raising their HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) levels. In a 90 day human study (double blind, where neither study providers nor study participants know what they are taking) Q-Slim (a ZPRO weight loss fiber supplement formulated from natural fibers and nutrients) was compared to both the popular weight loss supplement CortiSlim and an ordinary vegetable fiber placebo. The study is expected to conclude during late December 2005.

(PRWEB) December 11, 2005 -- While ZPRO cautioned ZORBA that early study data are still limited and preliminary, ZORBA found the early results for the Q-Slim human study to be both exciting and promising. These preliminary results show significant weight loss for participants on Q-Slim as compared to Cortislim (most have lost little or no weight) and placebo participants (most have lost little or no weight). At the beginning and end of the study, participants also took a blood test to determine blood levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and triglycerides (blood fat). Surprisingly and excitingly, participants taking Q-Slim were observed to have significantly lowered cholesterol, lowered LDL, lowered triglycerides levels, and elevated HDL (good cholesterol) levels. In fact, some participants on Q-Slim that started the study with normal and average HDL levels even moved into the higher range of HDL levels that are classified as “protective against heart disease” by the American Heart Association, and some participants in the HDL “danger” levels were move up into the average and normal HDL range.

Q-Slim is a weight loss supplement formulated from natural fibers and nutrients, which is a powerful, new and innovative (“first of its kind”) all-natural component technology fat sponge. This licensed technology is regarded by ZORBA as being the best ever fat sponge to reach the market, and has been observed to be 5 to 10 times more effective than ordinary fat sponges in animals (see November 30, 2005 press release). Preliminary data from a 90 day human study supports the animal results and provides promise for future products developed from this supplement fat sponge formulation. Preliminary data shows significant weight loss as compared to control groups and surprising impacts upon cholesterol levels to promote good heart health (lowering bad cholesterol levels while elevating good cholesterol).

In a 90 day double-blind human study, the Q-Slim fiber was compared to the popular weight loss supplement CortiSlim while using ordinary vegetable fiber as the placebo (expected to conclude during late December 2005). While ZPRO cautioned ZORBA that early study data are still limited and preliminary, ZORBA found early data to be both very exciting and promising. Preliminary results show significant weight loss for participants on Q-Slim as compared to Cortislim (most participants have lost little or no weight) and placebo participants (most have lost little or no weight). At the beginning and end of the study, participants also took a blood test to determine blood levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol), HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) and triglycerides (fat blood). Surprisingly and excitingly, participants taking Q-Slim were observed to have significantly lowered cholesterol, lowered LDL, lowered triglycerides levels, and elevated HDL (good cholesterol) levels. Some study participants on Q-Slim that started the study with normal and average HDL levels even moved into the higher range of HDL levels that are classified as “protective against heart disease” by the American Heart Association, and some participants who started in the HDL “danger” level (increased risk of heart attack) range were move up into the safer average and normal HDL level range.

Early results for the Q-Slim supplement suggests the possibility of a simple, natural component, dietary supplement fiber that may exceed FDA study results reported for the FDA drug candidate Acomplia (Recombinant, see http://money.cnn.com/2005/11/16/news/international/sanofi/index.htm) without side effects reported for Acomplia (see, http://drkoop.com/newsdetail/93/525168.html, who reports 1/3 of people dropped out of an Acomplia study due to side effects). Study results for Acomplia showed nausea, depression and other side effects while only predicting an annual 5%-10% weight loss (note that it is very difficult to find and pinpoint a lot of articles on the Internet at this time with expansive details and discussions about Acomplia side effects, which are overshadowed by a large number of positive articles published as part of the current PR campaign and Acomplia FDA approval process). Other data with Acomplia suggests lower cholesterol with higher HDL levels may be obtained for people who lose weight while taking their appetite suppressant Acomplia. The preliminary data of the Q-Slim study suggests that future long-term data may show a better weight loss profile for the Q-Slim fat sponge than that which has been reported for Acomplia, while lowering total cholesterol (and bad cholesterol) and increasing good cholesterol (HDL) levels. Of course, the ZPRO study with Q-Slim is not as exhaustive as the Acomplia FDA study. The data is only preliminary and longer term studies are planned. However, Q-Slim data suggests that the ZPRO non-systemic fat sponge fiber technology may be able to provide even better results than those reported for Acomplia, without the undesirable systemic side effects that have been observed for Acomplia and other drugs in its class.

Q-Slim is a fantastic and exciting new fiber, which is a non-prescription dietary supplement. It provides a solid promise to overcome several limitations of currently marketed fat sponges and fat blockers, since it has the ability to break the glass ceiling for fat absorption and to increase calorie reduction effectiveness without the usual supplement and drug side effects. The Q-Slim fiber technology represents a break-through in limitations for super fat sponges in a race to provide even more powerful fat absorbing supplement tools to reduce fat calories, promote heart health, and provide solid support for people trying to managing fat calories in any good weight loss program. According to a study conducted at Virginia Tech in Q-2 of 2005, Q-Slim appeared to the study conductors to be both safe and effective. Thus, it can be a powerful supplement resource as part of a sensible program to lose weight and to maintain weight loss.

According to ZPRO scientists, Q-Slim is designed to work powerfully throughout the entire digestive system to absorb large amounts of dietary fat (like a fat sponge or fat magnet), not just in the stomach like all other known fat sponge fibers. (See, www.azorba.com/Q-Slim.html). Unlike other marketed fat sponges, Q-Slim fiber is designed to like and to associate with both water and fat. Data suggests that this fiber distributes itself evenly throughout the digestive fluid in the dietary tract without being digested, where it works powerfully to grab, absorb and eliminate fat from the digestive system before that fat can enter the blood stream and be used as fat calories. Other fat sponges only work by absorbing fat in the acidic stomach environment, since they are not soluble in digestive fluids of the small and large intestine. Based upon this data, a person should be able to use a MUCH smaller effective dose of the ZPRO fiber than is usual for fat sponges to be effective, and can help avoid the side effects sometimes present with larger amounts of fat sponge fibers.

Q-Slim may be used with other products such as Xenical® to promote better dietary health and to remove or minimize the negative side effects sometimes observed with lipase inhibitor fat blockers. This possible combination may make lipase inhibitors more effective as anti-obesity agents by increasing patient compliance, and more competitive with the new class of dietary compounds, such as Acomplia.
